On the 30th of March, 2012 the GSTT led its first Geotour to the volcanic island of Dominica. The theme of this trip was a ‘journey through the Valley of Desolation’ primarily featuring a hike to the second largest boiling lake in the world. Other attractions included the Emerald waterfall, a visit to the Carib territory, Whale watching and a presentation by the Dominica Geothermal Exploration Project team.
A Geotour is a new style of field trip that is intended to develop our appreciate of regional geology, whilst concurrently increasing our understanding of the cultures, and natural attractions within the Caribbean region.
What’s included? Apart from a great deal of outdoors and adventure, the package includes all meals, accommodation, airfare, transport, tours, and entrance fees.
The GSTT has since run Geotours to Angel Falls in Venezuela, Down D’ Islands and Tobago.
